This “Deep Dish” style meat lover’s pie is a ultimate comfort food. It combines the hearty flavors of a cheeseburger with the spicy kick of pepperoni and savory beef sausage.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) Ground Beef.
- 1/2 lb (225g) Beef Sausage (crumbled or thinly sliced).
- 1 cup Pepperoni slices.
- 1 medium Onion (chopped).
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced).
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (Oregano, Basil, Thyme mix).
- 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese.
- 1 cup Marinara or Pizza Sauce.
- 1 Prepared Pie Crust (Deep dish style).
Preparation Instructions
- Brown the Meats: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and beef sausage with the chopped onions. Sauté until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Seasoning: Stir in the minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook for another 60 seconds until fragrant. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Prepare the Crust: Press your pie crust into a deep-dish pie pan, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides evenly. Pre-bake for 5 minutes if you prefer a crispier base.
- Layering: * Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the bottom of the crust.
- Add the beef and sausage mixture over the sauce.
- Top generously with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Arrange the pepperoni slices on top in an even layer (as seen in the photo).
- Baking: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly charred.
- Serving: Let the pie rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. This allows the layers to set so you get a perfect “deep-dish” slice.
Pro-Tip for Your Post:
Mention that this pie is even better when served with a side of Creamy Ranch dressing or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. These are huge favorites for the US “Meat Lover” crowd!
