Ingredients:

5 medium potatoes

250g minced meatballs

1 small onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons heavy cream (or liquid cream)

Salt + pepper + seasoning to taste

Grated cheese (mozzarella or Edam)

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them with a little salt, pepper, and butter or heavy cream.
  2. In a pan, brown the onions with oil. Add the meatballs and season with salt, pepper, and seasoning. Let them cook until tender.
  3. In a greased ovenproof dish, place a layer of potatoes, followed by a layer of meatballs, then another layer of potatoes.
  4. Sprinkle the top of the gratin with grated cheese.
  5. Bake at 180ยฐC until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
