Shrimp and Sausage with Broccoli Skillet

Ingredients

  • Protein: 400g (14 oz) shrimp (peeled and deveined), 250g (9 oz) smoked sausage (sliced into rounds).
  • Vegetables: 1 large head of broccoli (cut into small florets).
  • Aromatics: 3 cloves garlic (minced), 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp butter.
  • Seasoning: 1 tsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional), salt and black pepper to taste, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

​Instructions

  1. Sear the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and brown the sausage rounds until they are golden and crisp on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp with a pinch of salt and paprika. Cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the sausage.
  3. Steam the Broccoli: Add the butter and garlic to the skillet, followed by the broccoli florets. Pour in 2 tablespoons of water and cover with a lid for about 3 minutes. This steams the broccoli so it stays vibrant green and tender-crisp.
  4. Combine: Return the sausage and shrimp to the pan. Add the chili flakes and lemon juice. Toss everything together for 1 minute to let the flavors meld.
