Ingredients
For the Cream Cheese Filling (from your image):
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Roll-Ups:
- 8-10 slices of white bread (crusts removed)
- Egg Wash: 2 large eggs, 3 tablespoons milk, and a dash of vanilla.
- Cinnamon Sugar Coating: ½ cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon.
- For Frying: 2 tablespoons butter.
Instructions
- Prep the Bread: Remove the crusts from each slice of bread. Use a rolling pin to flatten the slices until they are thin.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Fill and Roll: Spread about 1-2 teaspoons of the cream cheese mixture onto one end of each bread slice. Roll the bread up tightly.
- Prepare Coating Stations: In one shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla. In a second bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.
- Cook: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll into the egg mixture (turning to coat all sides), then place it in the skillet.
- Brown: Fry the rolls, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Coat: Immediately after removing them from the pan, toss the hot rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
Pro Tip
If you have any leftover cream cheese filling, you can add a splash of milk or heavy cream to it to create a thin glaze. Drizzle it over the rolls just like in the picture!
