Ingredients
- 1 cup Raw Honey (high quality is best)
- 2-3 tbsp Fresh Ginger (finely grated)
- 1-2 tbsp Ground Turmeric (or 3 tbsp freshly grated turmeric root)
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 2 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
- A pinch of Black Pepper (Crucial: the piperine in pepper helps your body absorb the turmeric)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ginger: Grate the fresh ginger finely. If you want a smoother texture, you can squeeze the grated ginger through a cloth to use only the juice, but using the pulp provides more fiber.
- Combine Spices: In a small glass jar, mix the turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper.
- Mix with Honey: Pour the raw honey into the jar. Add the ginger and lemon juice.
- Stir Well: Stir until the mixture becomes a thick, uniform paste.
- Storage: Store the jar in a cool, dark cupboard or the refrigerator. It can last for several weeks.
How to Use It
- The Quick Way: Take 1 teaspoon directly when you feel a cold coming on or for an energy boost.
- As a Tea: Stir 1 tablespoon into a cup of warm (not boiling) water. Boiling water can kill some of the beneficial enzymes in raw honey.
- With Breakfast: Drizzle it over oatmeal or Greek yogurt.
