Classic Beef

1. Classic Beef Meatballs in Tomato Sauce (Top Left)

A comforting Mediterranean staple where tender meatballs are simmered in a rich, herb-infused red sauce.

  • Ingredients: 500g ground beef, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tsp dried oregano, salt, and pepper. For the sauce: 2 cups tomato puree, 1 tbsp olive oil, and fresh basil.
  • Instructions: Mix the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, and spices in a bowl. Form into medium-sized balls. Brown them in a skillet with olive oil. Pour in the tomato puree and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens and the meatballs are fully cooked.

2. Hearty Beef & Potato Stew (Top Right)

A classic, slow-cooked “comfort in a bowl” dish featuring tender meat and root vegetables.

  • Ingredients: 500g beef chunks, 2 large potatoes (cubed), 1 carrot (sliced), 1 onion (chopped), 2 cups beef broth, 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp paprika.
  • Instructions: Sear the beef chunks in a deep pot until browned on all sides. Add onions and carrots, sautéing for 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, broth, and paprika. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1 hour. Add the potatoes and continue cooking for 20-30 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

3. Beef Smothered in Onions (Bottom Left)

Also known as “Kebab Halla,” this dish relies on slow-caramelized onions to create a natural, deep brown gravy.

  • Ingredients: 500g beef slices or cubes, 3 large onions (thinly sliced), 1 tbsp butter, 1/2 tsp allspice, salt, and plenty of black pepper.
  • Instructions: Melt butter in a heavy pan. Add the beef and brown it thoroughly. Add the sliced onions and stir. Cover the pan tightly; the onions will release their juices to cook the meat. Cook on low heat for about 45-60 minutes, adding a tiny splash of water only if the pan gets too dry, until the onions turn into a thick brown sauce.

4. Sizzling Beef Fajitas (Bottom Right)

A vibrant, high-heat stir-fry served with warm tortillas and fresh lime.

  • Ingredients: 500g beef steak (cut into strips), 1 bell pepper (sliced), 1 onion (sliced), 1 tbsp lime juice, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp chili powder. Served with flour tortillas.
  • Instructions: Sauté the beef strips in a very hot skillet until browned and slightly charred. Remove the meat and add the peppers and onions to the same pan. Cook until they are slightly softened but still have a “snap.” Return the meat to the pan, add the lime juice and spices. Toss together quickly and serve with warm tortillas.
