Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients

  • 2 Large Apples: Peeled, cored, and diced into small cubes.
  • 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour (Note: Typically required to balance the liquids shown).
  • 1 cup + 1/2 cup Milk (Divided: part for the batter, part for the glaze).
  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon sugar mixture (or 1/4 cup sugar + 1 tbsp cinnamon).
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder.
  • 1 Large egg.
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (for the glaze).

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel and dice the apples into small, even pieces. Toss them with a little cinnamon to prevent browning.
  2. Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, 1 cup of milk, flour, baking powder, and the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Stir until you have a thick, smooth batter.
  3. Combine: Fold the diced apples into the batter until they are well-coated.
  4. Bake: * Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Scoop large spoonfuls of the mixture onto the tray, spacing them apart.
    • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until they are golden brown and springy to the touch.
  5. Make the Glaze: While the fritters are baking, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup of milk with powdered sugar until smooth.
  6. Glaze & Serve: Once the fritters have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze generously over the top.

Tip: These are best served warm with a cup of coffee or tea!
